Research & Planning: Initial Idea for Music Magazine
Research & Planning
1. Initial Idea for Music Magazine
The type of music magazine that I am going to produce is going to be focused on drums which are used in the music industry and it will be titled “Beat it” an obvious homage to the Michael Jackson song of the same name. The audience that this magazine will be trying to appeal to will be aimed at mostly young adults in the 18-25 age bracket, more specifically boys and mostly students with part-time jobs in the music industry such as people who are in bands who have an idea or interest in whatever different types of music that drums can be involved in such as brass, heavy metal, etc.
2. While we have been looking for ideas for our own music magazines we have been researching other music magazines such as Kerrang! and NME to find ideas of what content to include. For example, I have used the contents page and front cover of the 28/01/2012 issue of Kerrang! in my Analysis of Music Magazine PowerPoint presentation. Since Kerrang is well known for covering articles on the most popular rock bands, it has played a large influence on the plans of “Beat it” magazine because it has the same target audience group as the magazine I am planning to create and the writing style will be the type of language I will be using when I eventually write my own magazine.
